Orientation and Training

Orientees train one-on-one with different preceptors in different areas throughout the orientation process. The length of orientation for nurses varies, depending on the skill and experience of the nurse. Generally, a new nurse in the Med/Surg Float Pool will spend 1-2 weeks training on each med/surg unit and 3 weeks in each critical care area. New Care Assistants spend 2-3 shifts training on each unit. Nurses in the Critical Care Float Pool spend 6 weeks training in each area: PICU, ICN, and ED.

Paid training is available to become a preceptor, improve leadership skills, obtain PALS certification, and more!
