Other Services

  • Nephrologist/transplant physicians, transplant surgeons, transplant coordinators and dialysis staff available 24-hours/day, 7-days/week.
  • Pharmacokinetic modeling of immunosuppressive medications to optimize patient dosing.
  • Opportunity for patients to participate in research protocols designed to evaluate new therapies for dialysis and transplantation.

We also provide special services, including:

  • Home visits. For families who choose to conduct their child’s dialysis at home, specialized training of family members will be provided. A nurse and social worker will make a home visit to prepare for the home therapy.
  • School visits. Our staff will visit school teachers or school nurses, if requested, to assure that medications are given properly and that all school issues are addressed.
  • Yearly patient/family conference (dialysis only). In addition to regular clinic visits, an annual meeting is conducted where patients and parents can meet with their doctor, nurse, social worker and transplant coordinator to review their child’s care plan and establish new goals for the year.
  • Camp Chimer. We sponsor a nationally recognized 5-day summer camp organized for dialysis and kidney transplant patients between the ages of 9-17 years. This unique program provides an opportunity for patients with end-stage renal disease to enjoy an overnight camping experience with children from across the country.
  • Kidney Care Day. Each year, we offer an educational day for our patients and families designed to provide new medical information, review clinical procedures and meet other patients and families.
