Why Children's Mercy
Since 1995, three-year patient survival following kidney transplantation has remained at 100 percent.
Since 1995, only one kidney has been lost within two years of transplantation for an overall
kidney survival rate of 95.7 percent.
We offer a nationally/internationally recognized End Stage Renal Disease (Dialysis and Transplantation) program.
Children’s Mercy operates the largest pediatric transplant center between St. Louis, MO, and Denver, CO.
Children’s Mercy participates in multiple pediatric renal transplant studies to evaluate new therapies. Our hospital is a member institution of the Combined Clinical Trials in Pediatric Transplantation
(CCPTP) Study Group.
Our multidisciplinary team consists of a pediatric nephrologist, pediatric urologist, transplant surgeon, transplant coordinator (nurse), pediatric renal dietitian, renal social worker, child life specialist, and a developmental medicine specialist.
